Blue-Green Connections is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote sustainable use of land and waters. We will facilitate collaboration between our supporters and enable valuable research information to be shared and dispersed. The time to act is now.
Our Story
Blue-Green Connections, Inc. was formed in May 2019 as a result of work done to nominate the waters of the Florida Gulf Coast as a Mission BlueTM Hope Spot. During the course of the nomination process, the founders had the opportunity to interact with a large number of diverse individuals and institutions. We gained a deeper understanding of the connections between actions on the land and effects on the waters – and vice-versa. We discovered that despite the different focuses and areas of expertise, there was a large overlap in concerns about unsustainable human practices and climate change as well as a hunger for more information and collaboration to address the many and varied threats – connections just needed to be made. And thus Blue-Green Connections, Inc. was born!
Using the Florida Gulf Coast as its initial project and rallying point, Blue-Green Connections’ mission is to promote and support sustainable use of our precious land and water resources. We will accomplish this by:
- Providing a means for on-going collaboration among a broad and diverse set of interested parties to facilitate communication, data gathering and information sharing and to stimulate cooperation and unity of effort
- Informing business people, educators, government officials, and the general public about sustainability and conservation through conferences, workshops, local meetings, and publications
- Funding research and activities supporting research that support sustainability and conservation actions
- Restoring and conserving land and water resources and participating in land and water management activities
- Encouraging sustainable individual and business practices that preserve and protect land and waters.
