SUMMARY:Casa Tina - Eat\, Drink\, Support Our Waters and Preserve Our History - 3D Virtual Reality FUNdraiser
DESCRIPTION:Want to contribute to Dunedin’s green scene\, coastal and historic preservation all at the same time in a fun\, educational\, and delicious way? Join us February 7th at Casa Tina for dinner\, drinks and a 3d goggle virtual reality experience you won’t want to miss! Many thanks to Casa Tina who will generously donate 20% of the generating sales to Blue-Green Connections.\n\nThis fundraiser is a collaborative effort between Blue-Green Connections\, USF\, Casa Tina’s and the Pinellas Community Foundation. Blue-Green Connections is a Dunedin-based nonprofit working to protect our local land and waters. Reserve a night out now and experience a unique opportunity to learn more about our special local waters and peer into the rich history of Egmont Key. Reservations should be made in advance by calling Casa Tinas directly at 727-734-9226. Let them know you’re with the Blue-Green Connections Hope Spot Fundraiser.\n\nDr. Laura Harrison\, Director of University of South Florida’s Access 3D Lab\, will be showcasing the Egmont Key Virtual Reality Experience. It offers a virtual tour of the island’s coastal habitats and endangered heritage sites.\n\nHave you hea\nrd about the Kellogg Mansion in Dunedin? The Pinellas Community Foundation\, in collaboration with the Dunedin History Museum\, is spearheading an effort to virtually preserve the Kellogg Mansion in much the same way as the Egmont Key project. Come out and experience first hand the technology that will be used for the Kellogg Mansion Digital Preservation. \n\nFew people realize that Egmont Key\, now a wildlife refuge off the coast of St. Petersburg\, FL\, was once an island internment camp where Seminole Indians were imprisoned during the Indian Removal Period\, from 1856-1858.\n\nIn the past 150 years\, half of Egmont Key’s landmass has eroded into the Gulf of Mexico. With the loss of land comes the disappearance of an important habitat for thousands of nesting shorebirds and migratory species\, as well as the destruction of irreplaceable cultural heritage sites that attest to Tampa Bay’s rich history. The virtual reality experience will allow users to tour the disappearing island in 3D\, while exploring interactive digital stories that bring the past\, present and future of Egmont Key to life.\n\nMuch of the Florida Gulf Coast was designated as a Hope Spot in August of 2019. The City of Dunedin was named Home City for this internationally recognized designatio\nn. Learn more about the Hope Spot and upcoming events in Dunedin to celebrate and protect it\, including: \n• Feb 12\, 9am – Waterfront Cleanup – https://www.eventbrite.com/…/edgewater-park-cleanup…\n• Feb 12\, 10-6pm – Hope Spot Festival –https://www.facebook.com/events/853904135545608 \n• Feb 12\, 4-6pm – Eat & Drink Local – https://www.eventbrite.com/…/florida-gulf-coast-hope…\n• Feb 15 – Art Installation at John Grant Hubbard\n• Feb 19 \, 3-8:30pm – Save the West Klosterman Preserve Fundraiser – Property Tour & Brewery Crawl –https://www.facebook.com/events/902106090434187 \n• Feb 27\, 5-9pm – Hope Spot Gala – https://www.eventbrite.com/…/florida-gulf-coast-hope…\n• May 1-9 Fundraiser for BGC – Costa Rica: Wild Osa\, the Last Frontier – by Eat the Peach Travel –https://www.facebook.com/events/643247733470495 \nCrawl \nVisit: https://bluegreenconn.org/ for more info on the Hope Spot\, our work and upcoming events.\nWe hope to see you there!
